Daniel J. Hannon was a native of the Parish of Brosna. He was raised in the townland of Knockawinna. The same town-land produced the well-known businessman Denis Guiney of Clery’s Department Store fame. Brosna is a hillside village located in the north east of County Kerry, Ireland.
The village is located in ‘Sliabh Luachra’, an area that includes the counties Kerry, Cork and Limerick. The area is known as the cultural heartland of Irish traditional folk life. Brosna also has two National Schools, Scoil Mhuire and Knockaclarig N.S. Brosna is also home to the Con Curtin Music Festival which celebrates Irish traditional music.

Brosna GAA
The parish is home to a vibrant GAA Club who have recently launch a fantastic club history.
